I keep this website as a internet spot for my private company - created to do small interesting projects in my extra time - just because it's fun to do software development. I would like to provide other small companies with an easy way to uptain a set of fully operational servers running fully operational applications - a process, that can take years to uptain if not based upon solid knowledge. I offer my knowledge of the open source world to help you create a solid, simple and scalable platform for your own expansion.

Fields of operation

Operational software

Gylling Software operates in the fields of integrating Java applications efficiently with Oracle DBMS systems. This involves in depth knowledge of the Oracle PL/SQL programming language.

EclipseCon Europe 2011

EclipseCon 2011 - Check out: http://www.eclipsecon.org/europe2011/
Joining mainly due to the JAVA 7 track. Going to be very interesting to meet the real hardcore developers personally.

Finally got the time to update this site

Today I finally got the time to upgrade this site to the latest security release from drupal.

Trying the UMLet Eclipse plugin

I recently downloaded the UMLet Eclipse plugin to give it a try to see if I could get my hands upon a simple UML editor, that didn't aim at being a professional tool capable of code generation or other really serious usage of UML. My purpose is exactly to find a simple UML solution to do fast yet correct UML drawings, that can be shared between project members with little or now experience in the field of software development.

You can get your copy here: http://www.umlet.com/

Got invited to join LinkedIn - giving it a try

I recently got invited to join the LinkedIn society - and due to all this hype about developing your personal network - I'm going to give it a try. Don't know yet what to expect and what not to expect from this network.

My usually approach would be - that I'm not that important - I'm just trying to do my very best as simple software developer.

Getting the webcam to work on a ASUS F5RL using Ubuntu 9.10

Today I came across the needed information to make use of my build in webcam on my personal laptop. Just another of theese - you just need to know puzzles of using linux as primary software platform.

The main pieces of information is here:
* Syntek driver from sourceforge: http://syntekdriver.sourceforge.net/
* Correct makefile: http://bookeldor-net.info/merdier/Makefile-syntekdriver

This is mainly a reminder - of where to search for the information next time I come across a similar labtop.

The webcam is basically a USB 2.0 device and is listed by lsusb

Site upgraded to latest version of Drupal - 6.15

Took the time today to upgrade the site cms from drupal to the latest stable version (6.15). Simple as ever and only adding a bunch of security fixes.

While doing it I also took the time to update some of the content on the site and get rid of all the spam comments, that was in the approval list of comments.

Disabling the easy access to comments

Due to the huge amounts of spam - I got tired of deleting spam comments to valid content - thus this facility is now disabled to unknown or anonymous users. Anonymous users may still read content - but any writing is now disabled as well as the contact form is disabled currently of the same reason.

What you need to inline images using Drupal v. 6.1

Recently there has been a lot of posts on different sites on the internet, where people complain, that they can't inline images in a post to Drupal in version 6.1.

I have created this page (Drupal type is "page"), to show you all, that given the correct permissions the authenticated user can inline images in a post, whether it's of type page, story or blog entry.
